Stain & Odour Removal

Immediate action on fresh spills prevents most stains from becoming permanent & setting-in & gives you time to arrange for a professional to completely revove the stain & any chemical residue that may cause further staining.

At Pile & Weave our technicians have dealt with every stain imaginable & carry all the necessary products to treat & remove stains on all textile types.

In the event of a Spill / Stain

  • Water-based stains: Blot DON'T Rub. Blot immediately with clean white cloths to remove as much of the spill as possible. Rubbing will spread the stain. Consult a professional to fully treat & extract.

  • Oil-based stains: Sprinkle baking soda (talcum powder or corn starch will work if not) and allow it to sit overnight to absorb the oil. Brush off gently the next day & consult a professional to fully treat & extract.

  • Ink Stains: These soak in extremely quickly & require immediate action. Use a cotton swab with rubbing alcohol & gently dab until it begins to lift. Always test a on an inconspicuous area first. Do not rub.

Some of the most common stains we have dealt with include:

  • Tea/ Coffee: High in Tannins & dark pignments that quickly grip carpet fibres leading to tricky stains.

  • Red Wine: High Acidity & deep purple pigments make this a classic, fast setting spill.

  • Blood/ Milk: These Protein based stains can set in permanently if cleaned/ blotted with warm or hot water which cooks the protein.

  • Pet Urine/ Faeces: Contains Uric acid & proteins that bind to fibres & leave deep hard to remove odours.

  • Mud & Soil: Tracked in by shoes or paws, drying & breaking down into fine dust that grinds deep into the pile, damaging fibres over time.

  • Grease/ Oil: Leaves stubborn residues that repel water-based cleaners.

  • Make-up & Ink: Pigments bond quickly & aggressively & can set-in fast.​
